  1.  BACKGROUND

Prime Insurance Limited is an insurance company, established in 1995 by Rwandan investors, a licensed general and life insurance company authorized by the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR).

The Company is seeking to recruit a highly-skilled, self- motivated and experienced person to fill the following post:

  1.  Compliance & Risk Officer

Under the supervision of the Legal, Compliance & Company Secretary, the Compliance & Risk Officer  will assess the level of risks within the Prime Insurance Ltd and ensure required actions are identified and implemented to mitigate those. To ensure through regular audits that Prime Insurance Ltd have effective internal control systems and comply with company policies and procedures as well as Rwanda regulations.

a)    RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the development of a self-audit plan and its implementation to ensure regular and adequate audits are performed in all Departments and particular attention is given to high-risk Departments and products;
  • Ensures Prime Insurance Ltd Fraud & Corruption policy and other related procedures are enforced and well known by staff and other stakeholders; Coordinates and builds the capacity of  Internal Auditors/ Controllers or Investigators on internal controls, audit skills, and fraud detection;
  • Builds capacity of Senior Managers and other staff in terms of risk management and  internal controls;
  • In close collaboration with Legal, Compliance & Company Secretary, coordinates responses to fraud allegations in Company, maintains a fraud register and shares lessons learned;
  • Works with the Legal Compliance & Company Secretary  to establish regular and ad-hoc updates to Prime Insurance Ltd Audit Committee;
  • Develops a company-wide risk assessment and mapping, leads the implementation of a mitigation action plan. Identifies ways of improving cost-efficiency and streamlining processes and advises Management at the company;
  •  Ensure that in his/her activities, he/she follow and respect all Prime Insurance Ltd procedures;
  • Prepare weekly and monthly report as he/she will be required;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

b)    JOB SPECIFICATION

Qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Audit or Management;
  • A qualification such as CPA, ACCA or equivalent
  • A least 5 years’ experience as Financial Controller, Auditor or Finance Manager in a reputable organization; risk management experience would be desirable
  • Demonstrated skills in developing, managing and implementing audit plans in large and complex organizations

Skills:

  • High level of technical auditing skills, knowledge of relevant international standards governing internal audit practice;
  • Excellent advisory skills with high work standards and ability to promote team synergy in a multicultural work environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ( tact, diplomacy, discretion, and impartiality), strong Team-player with ability to work in a virtual team;
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a broad spectrum of individuals within a broad range of cultural environment
  • Proficiency in record keeping and data analysis
