Supervisor/Line Manager: Managing Director or designated authority

This position is based in Kigali, Rwanda with overall responsibility of technical functions in line with growth plans and targets.
The purpose of the position is to provide technical management and coordination related to produce sourcing, delivery and quality control along the value chain.
Duties and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Managing Director (or a designated authority), the manager will primarily be responsible for the following roles and responsibilities;
Develop and implement produce sourcing plan from farmer, farmer groups (farmer cooperatives, associations), and / or suppliers and own production. Specifically, he / she will; Develop a sourcing plan based on company targets and in consultation with management; Based on the sourcing plan, he / she will Initiate and develop good partnership with the producers to enhance and ensure quality and sustainable production and supply through proactive and regular consultation; Develop and agree on supply schedule with producers Provide technical support to producers to ensure quality supply based on supply schedule Ensure compliance on agreements with producers, both producer and company obligations; Undertake annual work plan planning related to technical aspects and ensure agreed on targets are realized on time. The manager will work closely with the line manager and provide support to team to ensure emerging issues are addressed on time; Ensure compliance with quality stands and set out in the quality management manual; Coordinate logistics and operations related to sourcing of produce in line with market requirements, projections and commitments to ensure timely packing (processing) and timely delivery, mitigating on potential losses (associated with penalties, market and / or wastage). Coordinate and ensure smooth operations related to pack house processing in close coordination with the quality control teams; Provide quality assurance from farm to pack house and processing and supervision; Represent company in meeting with farmers and other stakeholders and ensure timely feedback and upscaling as appropriate; Maintain a proactive communication and feedback with all partners as appropriate for smooth company operations Act as liaison focal point with relevant local and regulatory government authorities on technical matters Provide support and performance management to supervised team members based on company policies and guidelines Undertake any other assignment related to company as may be assigned from time to time;
Skills and experience
Degree in relevant technical field including agriculture, horticulture, agronomy, crop science or a relevant academic qualification; Diploma holders with additional 2 years of experience in lieu of degree
At least 3 years’ previous relevant experience in agricultural field support and / or operations is required, Good stakeholder management including experience working with farmers, farmer groups and regulatory authorities is an asset; Experience in horticultural export sectors (especially Avocado and passion fruits production, supply) is a distinct advantage Computer skills with advanced Microsoft Office skills is required

Annual and quarterly targets shall be discussed and mutually agreed on with supervisor. Performance appraisal shall be done annually by end of calendar year based on clear set guidelines and company policies as per agreed on objectives. Quarterly and mid-term Performances reviews shall be held to review progress and address bottlenecks.
