Pre-Primary Specialist at REB

  Job Description
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Quality Basic Education Program Manager – SPIU and overall supervision and guidance of the REB SPIU Coordinator, the duties and responsibilities of the Pre – primary Specialist include but are not confined to: •Working closely with the other SPIU staff on aspects related to the project for effective planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring, evaluation and communication; •Coordinating all pre – primary related activities including development of audio – visual programs; •Working closely with REB key staff in different departments for planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation; •Preparing technical specifications, guidelines and other documents required; •Providing support to the REB’s Internal Tender Committee for pre – primary related tenders; •Ensuring that the centrally procured materials are delivered to schools in a timely manner; •Working closely with key REB departments to organize training of teachers on the use of purchased materials to ensure effectiveness; •Working closely with key REB departments to elaborate, validate and approve the multimedia digital content; •Establishing a monitoring framework for management and use of teaching and learning materials in pre – primary schools •Availing required updated statistics and any other data related to pre – primary schools; •Participating in elaboration of training modules for pre – primary teachers; •Supporting the annual technical audit by facilitating the auditor, and ensuring that recommendations are effectively implemented; •Preparing and participating in the Funder supervision missions and the Annual Reviews; and •Performing any other relevant duties as required.
  Job Profile
Required education qualifications and work experience for the Pre – primary Specialist include: •Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or Early Childhood Education (ECE) with at least 5 years of relevant working experience in ECD/ECE related field or a Master’s Degree in ECD/ECE, with at least 3 years of relevant working experience in ECD/ECE related field; •Relevant experience in ECD/ECE project implementation. Demonstrating knowledge and experience of working with World Bank policies and guidelines; or with similar standards and policies of other multilateral development institutions is an added advantage; •Relevant experience in elaboration of age – appropriate content for preschoolers, training modules, teacher training for pre – primary teachers on the use of the competency – based curriculum and related teaching and learning materials; •Possession of knowledge, skills and experience in digital content development will be a valuable added advantage; •Demonstrated ability and relevant experience in evaluation of pre – primary teaching and learning materials with respect to the pre – primary curriculum and the National Pre – primary Education Minimum Standards and Guidelines for Rwanda. •Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Kinyarwanda. Good knowledge of French will be an added asset; •Planning and organization skills and good ability in working productively in a team environment of diverse backgrounds.
